Trust Your Gut - Worriers

Music Video | 2023

When Lauren of Worriers approached me with the concept “Empire Records, but gay”—I had to do whatever I could to bring this amazing vision to life. One of my fav 90s films + Queer Joy?? What better way to celebrate Pride? It was a delight to direct this with a lot of help from my Director of Photography, Gavin Murray, who really helped bring this one to life.

Warm Blanket - Worriers

Music Video | 2023

Making this video was an absolute joy. When learning more about the inspiration for the song & the overall theme for the record, writing this treatment brought me back to that 2020 crossroads of “how can I engage & be a part of making things better” vs. “I’m so overwhelmed by everything around me that apathy is the only way to protect myself”. I drafted three very familiar scenes of dissociation: glued to the TV, lying on the floor (a 2020 essential), & doomscrolling on the toilet. Each dissociating character was designed to gradually break into dance & express their feelings on the outside, only to return to their original state & never truly break free. The last little plug was filming Lauren’s performance in a spotlight in the kitchen—a little nod to Bo Burnham’s INSIDE & “quarantine art”.

Never Quite Kicks In - Worriers

Music Video | 2023

Credits: Director & Editor

Lauren Denitzio of Worriers self produced an album for release in early 2023. We collaborated on a simple concept: create what feels like a one take video that represents suppressing your emotions in a very sad looking office. We decorated a space with flowers to represent what would be a more wistful and peaceful situation. Throughout the video, using plates and some masking skills, we slowly removed the flowers from view: revealing the real world to be a dull place. To enhance this feeling of being trapped, we shot in 4:3 aspect ratio.

Down This Road - Elephante

Music Video | 2021

Credits: Director & Editor

Elephante wanted to showcase his many proficiencies across several instruments by performing each part in a music video. Starting with this concept, and using inspiration from early 2000s rock music videos, I built in color identities and color stories for each one of Elephante’s “characters”. From there, we celebrated light & color at every opportunity.

Definition of Pretty - Kat Robichaud

Music Video | 2016

Credits: Director & Editor

Kat Robichaud was a top 10 finalist on The Voice and has become an important creative ringleader of San Francisco’s music and performance scene. In early 2016 she asked me to direct a music video for her song “Definition of Pretty”. For this video we reached out to her loyal fanbase and her drag and performer community to all participate and showcase their own individuality and personal ideas of beauty. This was a blast to edit.

Edgewood Road - Picture Atlantic

Music Video | 2013

Picture Atlantic wanted to pay homage to the beautiful Northern California landscape. Using the framework of an empowered young woman exploring the world independently, we filmed the many different landscapes along the Northern California coast.

More Than Local Boys - The Matches

To announce their surprise reunion, I collaborated with The Matches and their manager to produce/direct a series of acoustic performance videos. We filmed two of these in one day, with three cameras.

Bones & Gratitude - Zen Zenith

Music Video | 2016

Credit: Director & Camera Operator

Zen wrote this song as a breakup letter to San Francisco and the Bay Area. He asked for a docu-styled music video that showcased his recording process and collaboration with the musicians who worked on the track. I captured the studio recording sessions as well as footage of Zen hanging out with old friends and visiting some of his favorite San Francisco haunts.
